Senate Confirms Trump Nominee…

The Senate confirmed Doug Burgum as Secretary of the Interior in a 79-18 vote, with bipartisan support. A former North Dakota governor and billionaire entrepreneur, Burgum will also chair the National Energy Council and serve on the National Security Council. His mandate from Trump is to expand fossil fuel production, including on public lands.

Trump has secured eight Cabinet confirmations so far, including Marco Rubio (State), John Ratcliffe (CIA), and Kristi Noem (DHS). Meanwhile, Mike Pence’s group is pressuring GOP senators to reject RFK Jr. as HHS Secretary over his past abortion stance, though Kennedy has reassured Republicans he will enforce Trump’s policies.
