Man Arrested In Florida After Making Violent Threats Against Trump
Police in Florida arrested Shannon Depararro Atkins, 46, for making online threats against former President Donald Trump and possessing cocaine. Atkins, apprehended during a traffic stop in West Palm Beach, allegedly posted threatening messages before Trump’s inauguration, including calls for violence. He later claimed the posts were “jokes.”
West Palm Beach Police Chief Tony Araujo emphasized the seriousness of such threats, stating they are taken seriously in today’s climate. Atkins faces charges of drug possession and written threats, a second-degree felony. Federal charges may also be considered by the Secret Service.
In a separate case, Arizona authorities arrested Ronald Lee Syvrud, a convicted sex offender, for threatening Trump during the 2024 presidential campaign. Syvrud, wanted on multiple warrants, was apprehended after a manhunt. Trump, informed about the threats during a press conference, dismissed concerns with humor, stating, “Let’s get outta here right now!”
