Trump Thanks Peter Doocy for Asking if Biden Left Him a Letter In Desk
During the customary transition of power in the United States, it is tradition for the outgoing president to leave a private letter for their successor. However, during a press conference on Monday, President Donald Trump appeared unaware of the letter left for him by former President Joe Biden.
The moment unfolded when Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy asked Trump, “President Trump, did President Biden leave you a letter?” Trump, busy signing executive orders in the Oval Office, responded, “He may have,” before adding, “Don’t they leave it in the desk?” Opening a drawer, Trump discovered the letter, exclaiming, “Ooooh! Thank you, Peter. It could have been years before we found this. Thank you.” When asked if he could read anything on the outside of the letter, Trump joked, “Maybe we should all read it together. Well, maybe I’ll read it first and then make that determination.”

During the same press event, Trump addressed the recent pardons issued by Joe Biden before leaving office, including pardons for former Rep. Liz Cheney, General Mark Milley, and Dr. Anthony Fauci. Trump criticized these pardons, particularly Cheney’s, referring to her as a “crying lunatic.” He questioned Biden’s decisions, saying, “Why are we helping Liz Cheney? She’s a disaster.”
Biden’s last-minute pardons also included members and staff of the January 6th investigative committee. In his statement, Biden explained the pardons were intended to protect public servants who had faced threats and politically motivated prosecution. “Our nation relies on dedicated, selfless public servants every day. These individuals served with honor and distinction and do not deserve to be the targets of unjustified prosecutions,” Biden wrote.
The pardons sparked outrage among Republican lawmakers, who criticized the move as an admission of guilt and evidence of corruption. Rep. Barry Loudermilk, who led the Republican investigation into the January 6th committee, called the pardons a “direct result of our investigation.” Other Republicans, including Sen. Jim Banks and Rep. Ralph Norman, expressed frustration, claiming the pardons reflected poorly on the Biden administration.
In his statement, Biden highlighted General Milley’s four decades of service and his role in guiding the military through complex global challenges. He also defended the actions of those involved in the January 6th investigation, describing them as necessary to uphold democracy.
